Today I uploaded my slides.
It felt like a quiet turning point. After weeks of thinking, writing, and reworking, the research now exists not only in fragments and processes, but as something structured—something I am about to present. This Thursday, I will share it as part of the final stage of my mixed methods course at Oxford, which I am now close to completing.
The diagram I created for the presentation became a way to organise what I have been doing intuitively for a long time.
The research unfolds in four phases.
First, site engagement—being present in temples, museums, public spaces. Observing gestures, atmospheres, small movements that often go unnoticed.
Then, movement labs—where these observations are explored through the body, through collaboration, through improvisation. Where gesture begins to shift toward ritual.
Then, studio development—a kind of translation. Movement becomes material. Collage, objects, compositions begin to emerge.
And finally, performances and exhibitions—where the work returns to public space, not as representation, but as something alive. A kind of living archive.
Alongside this, I include small traces of quantitative data—counts of gestures and materials, audience responses, simple mappings.
Not to measure or generalise, but to notice patterns. To support what the body already seems to know.
There are also moments of reflection within the process—points where I adjust, where I integrate, where I ask what is becoming visible and what remains hidden.
I don’t experience this as a linear method. It feels much closer to a cycle—something that returns, shifts, and builds over time.
Uploading the slides today made everything feel momentarily still—like a pause before something begins.
On Thursday, as I present and complete this Oxford mixed methods course, the work will move again—this time through speech, through presence, through the act of sharing it with others.
