Perfoming Art – My dance tales – Body storyteller

Dance, performances, dance sketches. Costumes. Preparation. Creating the character. Sometimes I choose the music before the performance, other times after. Over the past academic year, I’ve made nine trials, experimenting with how I approach my dance. I sit, reflect, and come to a conclusion: what is this and why do I need it? Perhaps the most important thing I’ve realized is that after each performance, I feel an enormous surge of energy. I love that feeling—it fills me up.

Before each performance, I think about the character and a rough choreography. Most of the time, I improvise on the spot, as I don’t always have the chance to visit the venue beforehand and plan my steps. Generally, it takes me about one to two hours to shoot and dance in the space. I’ve now come to understand that ideally, I need five or six repetitions to fully grasp the movements and improvise. This way, I can see the space more clearly and decide what story I want to tell with this costume and these movements in this setting.

Overall, it feels like a breath of fresh air to me. This is my energy, and these are my dance tales.
