Thursday’s class: working with clay

Last Thursday, our class gathered for an unusual meeting. We spent time working with clay. Jonathan informed us that we would be sculpting and discussing our creations in pairs.

This Thursday turned out to be a productive drawing day for me. I was creating another creature for a friend, having already drawn its portrait. However, I struggled all day to determine who the creature was, to whom it was leaning with its eyes slightly closed. By the end of the day, I finally envisioned and drew a very small, even tiny, flying kitten.

During class, the first thing I did during the initial meditation was sculpt a small dragon. When it came time to sculpt while considering my partner, I created a small cat with wings. It was amazing how well this character matched my partner’s personality.
